Vietnam increasing Cambodia’s electricity supply by 400MW

Vietnam will increase its electricity supply to Cambodia to 400 megawatts or more to boost the Kingdom’s economy and to help prevent blackouts or power shortages from occurring.

The plan was made public by Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Vietnam, during a meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam on the afternoon of July 25 with Senate President Hun Sen.

The prime minister expressed his desire for more complimentary economic activity between the two nations and said that when the current agreement to supply 250 megawatts of power to Cambodia expires it will be renewed and increased to 400 megawatts in 2025.

The two sides also discussed Cambodia-Vietnam-Laos cooperation as well as bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, economy, investment, tourism, infrastructure and politics.

Hun Sen arrived in Hanoi on the morning of July 25 to pay his respects to the late Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who passed away on July 19 at the age of 80. AKP
