Cambodia encourages Australia to do business and investment in high-value-added sectors

Cambodia has encouraged Australian business and investor community to further increase business and investment activities in high-value-added sectors such as agriculture and agro-processing, logistics, e-commerce, and digital technology, considered as priority sectors for economic development of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

The inspiration was made by Ms. Cham Nimul, Cambodian Minister of Commerce, during a meeting with Senator the Hon Tim Ayres, Assistant Minister for Trade and Assistant Minister for Manufacturing of Australia, in Melbourne on Mar. 5, while she was accompanying Prime Minister Hun Manet to participate in the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations.

On the occasion both sides discussed the strengthening of bilateral economic relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Nimul underscored the important roles of private sectors of both countries in Cambodia’s economic development, especially the creation of employment opportunities, and trade and industrial diversification in the Kingdom.

Both parties also exchanged views to additionally strengthen and promote existing business activities and bilateral trade flows of both countries to a new height, and laid stress on the importance of implementation of Agreements on ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).AKP khmertimeskh
