The final version of a digital citizen app is set to be presented on Wednesday in the framework of the second Cyprus-Greece summit, President Nikos Christodoulides said on Monday.
He added that before the end of the year, Cyprus’ rebranding would be launched, focusing on the country’s presence in international markets.
Christodoulides made the two announcements while delivering a speech at the Business Leader Awards.
The president said his government was promoting the digitalisation of services to cut red tape and make things easier for businesses.
The digital citizen and the new government portal gov.cy would offer interaction with the state and by December 15 the digital assistant – an AI tool – would be launched through the same portal, facilitating this interaction with live chatting, he said.
Referring to the rebranding of Cyprus in international markets, Christodoulides said the aim was to make Cyprus more attractive to the business and investment community, as well as tourists and students.
He also said the government was striving to create a stable and healthy fiscal environment and that Cyprus was projected to have the third highest growth rate in the Eurozone for 2024, reaching 3.8 per cent.
Inflation, he said, would drop to 2 per cent in 2024 compared to 3.5 per cent in 2023.
Christodoulides said Cyprus would be recording a 3.9 per cent primary fiscal surplus for 2024 and that remarkable progress had been made in reducing public debt.
He also referred to a return to positive ratings for the economy “after 13 whole years”.
