The government’s main concern is to improve businesses’ access to funding, which is something that has been discussed with the newly-appointed Central Bank Governor, President Nikos Christodoulides said addressing the 14th Nicosia Economic Congress.
The President also revealed that the action plan for the establishment of the National Development Agency will be revealed to the public soon.
“We have a plan and we have specific actions in mind,” he told the audience, as he described Cyprus as a pillar of political and economic stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
To further boost the economy’s resilience, he added, the government is focusing on deepening its ties with neighbouring states – which is a “central pillar of our foreign policy and is something that we have succeeded in over the past few years, investing significant capital in countries of the Middle East”.
resident Christodoulides added, “We have all the guarantees to face the challenges with an extroverted and multi-thematic policy with multiple benefits both at the political and economic levels”.
Cyprus also has a crucial role to play in energy matters, the President pointed out, adding that the country was in talks with energy giants, with tangible results expected soon.
The 14th Nicosia Economic Congress is presented by ECOMMBX, Hellenic Life and Pancyprian Insurance.
